Objectives:
Introduce classical computational techniques that are behind recent developments in the field of Statistics and Data Science. Represent the theoretical foundations and computational implementation of numerical methods, as well as application examples.
Justificativa:
Rationale:
In recent years, the development of Statistics concerning the analysis of large data sets is based mainly on the use of efficient computational techniques. Many of these techniques are classic methods in the area of Probability and Statistics and come from the area of optimization and numerical analysis. It is of fundamental importance that Postgraduate students in Statistics know these general techniques with great application in several sub-areas.
