Objectives:
The objective is to introduce mathematics and theoretical physics students to the applications of Tomita-Takesaki modular theory in relativistic quantum physics.
Justificativa:
Rationale:
Tomita-Takesaki modular theory is the key to understand modern physics. We will show how a modular theory, when combined with the representation theory of Lie groups, provides an exceptional rich structure, that is likely to resolve a number of problems which have been open for a century.
