Docente Responsável:
Professor:
Objectives:
The theories of Measure and Integration play a central role in Mathematics, a role that goes beyond the frontiers of Analysis itself. They are essential in various areas, such as PDEs, Harmonic Analysis, Probability, Ergodic Theory and Functional Analysis. The central goal of this course is to present the basic concepts of Measure and Integration, including the abstract Lebesgue integral in its general formulation, alongside applications to some of the areas cited above.
Justificativa:
Rationale:
This course is an integral part of what every mathematician should know.

Content:
1. Measure spaces; 2. Integration; 3. Product measures; 4. Signed and complex measures; 5. Lp-spaces; 6. Measures on locally compact Hausdorff spaces; 7. Introduction to Fourier Analysis. 8. Special topics and applications
Type of Assessment:
The evaluation will be carried out through seminars, projects and tests. The final grade will be calculated by mean obtained by the student in the assessment instrument. In the first two weeks of class, the teacher will set the dates and number of tests, projects and seminars, as well as the criteria for attributing the final letter grade.
