Objectives:

The study of foundations of the submanifolds theory, the fundamental equations, and some relevant results in the area .

Justificativa:

Rationale:

The study of the isometric immersions (or submanifolds theory) is a natural continuation of the study of curves and surfaces in R^3. Moreover, that is an important topic of research developed at IME-USP and in other Brazilian universities. The course gives to the student the opportiunity of having contact with the area foundations as well as with the some important results which can define or will define research issues in the area.
