Objetivos:

Capacitar o aluno a reconhecer os principais métodos de avaliação da dieta empregados em estudos epidemiológicos, de modo a permitir uma avaliação crítica das limitações e erros de medida na estimativa de nutrientes e do consumo alimentar.

Objectives:

To enable the student to recognize the main methods of dietary intake assessment used in epidemiological studies, in order to allow a critical evaluation of the limitations and measurement errors in the assessment of nutrient and food intake.

Justificativa:

A investigação da relação entre a dieta e desfechos de saúde requer o emprego de métodos adequados ao desenho do estudo e que tenham precisão e acurácia conhecidos. Esta exposição ambiental (dieta) é de natureza complexa e o aprimoramento na qualidade dos dados se faz necessário.

Rationale:

The investigation of the relation between diet and health outcomes requires the use of methods that are appropriate to the design of the study and with known precision and accuracy. This environmental exposure (diet) is complex and the improvement in data quality is necessary.

Conteúdo:

1. Limitações dos métodos de estimativa da dieta 2. Eleição do método de estimativa da dieta segundo desenho e objetivos do estudo. 3. Desenvolvimento, reprodutibilidade e validação de questionários de frequência alimentar. 4. Número de inquéritos recordatórios necessários para a estimativa de nutrientes considerando-se a variabilidade intra-individual. 5. Correção de erros de medida da dieta. 6. Padrões alimentares (a priori e a posteriori) 7. Multiple Source Method (MSM)
