Objetivos
Este curso explora os sistemas monetário e financeiro a partir de uma perspectiva interdisciplinar, com particular ênfase na economia, na ciência política e no direito.
Ao final do curso, os alunos e as alunas serão capazes de compreender:
a.	debates contemporâneos sobre a função econômica da moeda e sua relação com o direito e o poder do Estado;
b.	a evolução histórica das relações e das instituições monetárias internacionais;
c.	o debate teórico sobre poder monetário internacional;
d.	o papel de instituições financeiras privadas na criação da moeda e o papel constitutivo do direito no sistema financeiro global contemporâneo; e
e.	o dólar como moeda internacional.
 
 
 
Programa Resumido
A disciplina propõe o estudo da moeda a partir de um enfoque interdisciplinar, combinando conceitos, literatura e métodos da economia, da ciência política e do direito. 
O curso parte de uma introdução em que se retomam conceitos econômicos e definições de moeda, seguida por uma breve revisão crítica da evolução do sistema monetário internacional desde o final do século XIX (Padrão-Ouro) até a crise financeira global iniciada em 2008.
Após esta introdução, serão estudadas questões referentes à moeda levantadas pela economia política internacional e pelo direito, como, por exemplo, a definição e a dinâmica do poder monetário, nos âmbitos doméstico e internacional; o papel constitutivo do direito nas moedas e no sistema financeiro internacional; a importância do dólar norte-americano como moeda internacional em meio à estrutura de organizações internacional; o debate sobre a eventual emergência de novas moedas internacionais.

•	Moeda e poder: contribuições pioneiras e a construção dos conceitos de poder monetário 
•	Poder monetário internacional. Coerção e caminhos de cooperação
3.	O conceito jurídico de moeda e a estrutura jurídica da moeda fiduciária
4.	O papel constitutivo do direito no sistema financeiro global
5.	Instituições financeiras internacionais e o dólar como moeda internacional
6.	Possível emergência de novas moedas globais? A internacionalização do renminbi.

Prova intermediária (40% da nota) Prova final (60% da nota) Compatíveis com as atividades exigidas dos alunos, conforme inciso 1º do artigo 65 do Regimento Geral da USP.
Critério
De acordo com o artigo 81 do Regimento Geral da USP.
Norma de Recuperação
Alunos com nota entre 3,0 e 4,9 e frequência mínima de 70% poderão participar da recuperação.
