O principal propósito da prática analítica musical é ampliar a compreensão de uma obra. A disciplina Análise Musical III foca a apreensão de conceitos e a manipulação de materiais e técnicas composicionais de obras musicais compostas durante os séculos XX e XXI.
Aulas expositivas ministradas pelo professor são acompanhadas pela prática analítica individual por parte dos alunos, com foco na escuta, identificação, manipulação e inter-relação de materiais e processos composicionais explorados durante o século XX.
A cada semana, a aula expositiva focará a expansão de meios de um dos aspectos formativos de obras musicais compostas nos séculos XX e XXI - nomeadamente: coleções de referência, simetria, ciclos intervalares, acordes e simultaneidades; linha melódica, vozes condutoras, sucessões harmônicas, pandiatonicismo e centricidade; textura em obras acústicas; ritmo; forma; conjuntos e serialismo; minimalismo; tipologia espectral. Durante cada semana, os alunos realizarão um trabalho individual com foco na escuta, identificação, manipulação e inter-relação dos materiais e processos composicionais apresentados na aula expositiva. Ao final do semestre, os alunos apresentarão seminários e artigos.
